Contributor Rules & Guidelines

Before you submit your story, please take a moment to read through these. They help us honour the spirit of this collection—something heartfelt, homemade, and honest.

Not Promotional

  • No promotional content or marketing. This isn’t a platform for influencers, brands, or self-promotion.

  • Please don’t include affiliate links, product shoutouts, or branded ingredients.

  • If you’ve adapted your recipe from a published source, just credit it respectfully—no links or endorsements needed.

Made from Scratch (Mostly)

  • Your recipe should be mostly homemade, even if it includes a shortcut or two. No boxed mixes, store-bought frosting, or frozen entrées.

  • Pre-made doughs, broths, or spice blends are okay if they’re not the main ingredient and you note that they're optional or traditional.

Meaning Over Perfection

  • We care more about what this food means to you than how “perfect” it looks.

  • Show us the worn pan, the scribbled notes, the little imperfections that make it yours.

Ingredient & Instruction Style

  • List ingredients in order of use, with exact measurements (either metric or US customary).

  • Describe prep steps after the ingredient (e.g., “200 g onions, finely chopped”).

  • In your directions, write as if you’re speaking to a friend. You don’t need to sound like a cookbook.

Images & Media

  • At least one photo of the finished dish is required.

  • You’re also invited to upload 2–4 context photos: a recipe card, a family photo, a hands-in-dough moment—whatever captures the memory.

  • Optional: You can also include a voice memo, video, or kitchen soundscape to bring the story to life.

Originality & Credit

  • If your recipe is adapted from a cookbook, blog, or someone else’s notes, please do your best to credit the original source.

  • If this is an inherited or shared recipe, tell us who passed it down to you.

Edits & Curation

  • We may lightly edit your submission for clarity, length, or consistency—but we’ll always keep your voice and meaning intact.

  • You’ll hear from us before anything is published.
